Prysm iO provides a quick, noninvasive skin carotenoid score that can be tracked over time. AWA introduces it as an educational tool for conversations about nutrition and lifestyle habits.
For Practices
Donna helps wellness and healthcare teams plan how to introduce the scan, explain a baseline score, and follow up with clients as part of a wellness program.
Research & Videos
Background research: Mayne and colleagues (2013) reviewed skin carotenoids as a biomarker of fruit and vegetable intake using earlier Raman spectroscopy. This paper does not evaluate Prysm iO.
Prysm iO study: Riggs and colleagues (2026) compared scores from 97 adults with measured blood carotenoid levels; Prysm scores showed a positive association (R² = 0.7659).
Nu Skin clinical bulletin (2026): In 589 adults, Prysm scores were associated with reported diet, lifestyle, and skin attributes. The observational results do not show that changing a score improves health.
